I have actually had to deal with countless situations in youth groups where there were polarized opinions among teens, or staff. As the leader of these groups I have had to be the catalyst for clearing the air, and have always known that groups and individuals with opposing viewpoints must be represented for there to be any real resolution. For half a century I have worked at being an effective listener so people with these situations polarized opinions feel heard and understood. I am also effective at looking at the larger picture for the greater good to remind involved parties that moving past being stuck in the current situation and moving into compromise and cooperation is crucial.
